"We are grateful to the European Commission, which has allocated 900 thousand euros for the purchase of 4.5 million doses of vaccine OPV for the third round," added the Deputy Minister. "All areas of the country have already received the vaccine, which is free and safe, and ready to start a third round of supplemental immunization. Every child from 2 months to 10 years should be vaccinated against polio – that's two drops for life, because polio can lead to paralysis or kill", - stressed the Director of the Directorate-General for humanitarian Affairs and civil protection of the European Commission Jean-Louis de Brouwer. In the first two rounds of supplementary polio immunization received any vaccinations for children aged from two months to six years. The third round will cover all children up to 10 years. In the first round, which was held from 19 October to 9 November, was able to vaccinate approximately 65% of children. In the second (30 November – 18 December), this figure rose to 75%.
