In Chernivtsi discussed the problems of waste treatment in Ukraine
At Chernivtsi National University Fedkovych held a round table on "addressing household waste management in Ukraine. The regional dimension". MPs, heads of Chernivtsi and neighboring regions took part in the panel discussion, during which they presented bills aimed at reforming in Ukraine in the sphere of household waste management. Participants expressed their vision of the role of local governments in the process of reforming this industry, considered the problems in the sphere of household waste management in Chernivtsi and region, European ways of solving them, experience in this sphere from other regions. The representative of the company “OZONE INVESTMENT,” Thomas Bretschneider said: "The project degassing of landfill solid waste in Chernivtsi, which is offered to the territorial community of the city, has great prospects. The solution to the problem of accumulation of garbage in landfills and illegal dumps will not only improve the environment, reduce the demand on limited resources, but also to stimulate the economy, European integration processes". According to the participants of the round table you need to establish the mechanisms in the new legislation, which will contribute to the development of recycling and make it interesting for investors, territorial communities. City Council representatives said that in Chernivtsi, though not at full strength, works sorting plant, which not only improves the environmental situation, but also stimulates the development of entrepreneurship in waste collection and processing, creates in the region a new branch of production based on cheap raw materials, transforming solid waste management into a profitable and profitable business.
