Ternopil athletes have successfully completed the winter athletics season
Three days in the athletics arena of the Ukrainian Academy banking in Sumy took place the main event of the winter season – the championship of Ukraine in athletics among adults and youth. This tournament had the status of qualifying to participate in the world Championship which will be held March 17-20 in Portland (USA). Although Ternopil athletics failed to get there (there were qualification standards), but they performed decently, scoring a total of 8 medals. Gold medals in the women's 3,000 m steeplechase was won by the spouses Ivan and Natalia Strelkova of that, showing the results of 8.40,67, and 10.09,08 sec., became winners. Natalia concurrently received first place in the competitions among young people, and Ivan, on the eve of competing in the smooth running on the 3000 m with the result 8.08,96 h., became the bronze prize-winner. Train athletes Yuri Rekalov and Alexander Stepaniuk. With the result of 7.71 m in the long jump, Sergey Kruk was a pupil of Michael Varuka, also won a bronze medal. In the final race at 200 meters with the result of 25.18 sec. she won the silver medal among the youth and was ranked fourth among adult sportsmen (coach Alexander Stepanyuk, youth sports school "Kolos"). The youngest participant in the Ternopil team, student of the sports school Zborovskaya - Oksana Blcak (1998 g. s.) at these competitions, first performed the standard candidate master of sports of Ukraine in the women's 800 meters, running at 2.14,07 sec., and became the bronze medalist. Fifth in the high jump among young athletes, having overcome a lath at height of 170 cm, was Christina Stefanishina (coach Eugene Karmelyuk, youth sports school "Kolos"), and Oleg Zabrinski in the women's 200 meters with the result of 22.75 seconds. became the seventh (coach Michael Very, youth sports school "Kolos"). In the team competition among adult athletes, Ternopil, scoring 455 points took the 14th place, and among the youth of our team with 235 points took the 16th place.
