In Zhytomyr oblast doctors-nephrologists celebrate their professional holiday
27 March in Ukraine celebrates the Day of nephrologist. Nephrology is the branch of medicine that studies the functions and diseases of the kidneys, diagnosis of diseases of the kidney and their treatment. The history of the Nephrology service area began in may 1985. It was then from the Department of cardiology regional hospital of Zhytomyr separated separate the Nephrology Department for 40 beds to provide specialized care to patients with kidney disease. According to the head of Nephrology Department Alla Bles, all doctors have the highest qualification category in Nephrology, have necessary methods of examination of patients and conduct of a qualified, conservative and in vitro (program hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis) treatment. In the Department of Nephrology conducted a survey of recipients and donors in terms of preparing them for subsequent transplantation in transplant centers cities of Ukraine and abroad. Now in the lives of 26 patients with Transplantology donor kidney from them 1 child. Unfortunately, in recent years, in Ukraine and there is an increase of severe forms of acquired, congenital and hereditary diseases that lead to the progression of the pathological process and the occurrence of renal failure. Therefore, Central to the work of Nephrology is the identification and treatment of patients in early stages of disease, when conducted in a timely manner and adequately to conservative therapy can halt or slow the development of renal failure. In connection with the national registry of patients with chronic kidney disease and patients with acute kidney injury among patients 19042 – 17590 patients (and that 92.4 % of all registered) with the initial stages of chronic kidney disease without signs of renal insufficiency. Doctors-nephrologists carry out organizational-methodical and educative work aimed at the awareness of medical staff and citizens with risk and clinical manifestations of kidney disease for prevention and early detection of the disease.
