Ecologists-scientists have visited Vinnytsia foresters (photo)
21 – 25 March, the winery hosted the participants of all-Ukrainian Olympiad on ecology. 30 environmental scientists, members of the jury, and 120 children-participants of the Olympic games spent a day in forest environmental education centre of regional management of forest and hunting economy. A two-hour meeting environmental scientists had with the chief of regional management of forestry and hunting, doctor of agricultural Sciences, Professor Anatoly Bondar. Interested in the conversation of like - minded professionals, they raised a number of relevant and challenging issues of our time: the need for mandatory environmental component in the criteria for evaluating the performance of Central and local authorities; improving the forest cover of the regions of Ukraine that are located in different natural zones; the conservation of soil, water, steppe vegetation; the role of forests in combating wind and water erosion; education of ecological culture of the younger generation and citizens of Ukraine; the role of student of forestry and forest environmental education centres in environmental work; the role of the state and public organizations in the conservation of flora and fauna of Ukraine... Asked detailed questions guests the experience of growing vinnitskie foresters highly productive forests in the future. Anatoly Bondar has shared the experience of cooperation of foresters-practitioners with foresters, scientists, particularly scientists of Vinnytsia national agrarian University, Kyiv National University of life and environmental Sciences. This requires a strategic task of the forestry specialists of Vinnytsia region is to increase woodland edge to the optimal 15%, to reach the age of maturity of the stock of wood on 1 ha not 290 cubic meters, and about 500-600 cubic meters.
