The winners were chosen in 5 categories: in the field of literature, art, education, science and social, political and spiritual activities aimed at the adoption of Ukraine's statehood, peace and accord in it. The award was established in 1994 and the first award ceremony was held in 1995. The founders of the award are the national Union of writers of Ukraine, the national Union of artists of Ukraine, Zhytomyr regional state administration and Zhytomyr oblast Council, all-Ukrainian society Ivan Ohienko and the Ukrainian society "Prosvita" named after T. G. Shevchenko. The award was created to honor outstanding personality of Ivan Ohienko, the preservation and the continuation of new generations of his works and deeds that he dedicated his life. This award is given annually. This year the prize winners were: * Anatoly Siryk – in literature; * Irina Farion – in the field of science; * Vitaly Shevchenko – in the field of education; * Shevchenko Evgeniy – in the field of art; * Gabinete Vladimir – in the social, political and spiritual activities aimed at the adoption of Ukraine's statehood, peace and accord in it. "I am very grateful to the leadership of the Zhytomyr region, their support for the Award named after Ivan Ohienko.
