In Zhitomir honored the victims of political repression.
May 15, Ukraine honors memory of victims of political repressions of the twentieth century. On this day in Zhitomir to the memorial sign to victims of political repressions on the site of the execution of the citizens of 1937-1938 came representatives of the authorities, relatives of the victims, concerned Zhytomyr city. The participants honored the memory of the repressed moment of silence and laid flowers to the memorial sign. Reference: June 2, 1937, adopted a resolution of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) PB-51/94 "On anti-Soviet elements", according to which 5 Aug 1937 came the NKVD order No. 0044, which marked the beginning of massive repression. Already by mid-November 1938, no court 681 692 were issued death sentences that were executed immediately. More than 1.7 million people was sent to the camps. According to declassified archives and documents of the SBU, Ukraine, from 1935 to 1951 the victims of dispossession were more than 2 million 800 thousand people. In 1936, arrested 15717 people, in 1937 – 159537, in 1938 – 106096, in 1939 – 11744.
