Free legal aid to internally displaced persons in Zhytomyr
Ukraine is implementing a large-scale project, which aims to promote the legal protection of citizens, who are forced to leave the occupied dangerous territory. The program is implemented by the representative office of the Danish Council for refugees in Ukraine for the financing of Department assistance in case of emergencies, the U.S. Agency for international development (OFDA/USAID) in 15 regions of our state. Partner of the project in Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions is the Chernihiv public Committee of human rights protection. The project displaced persons from the occupied territories and the combat zone, informing through mass media about their legal rights, remedies and availability of legal services. Qualified lawyers provide comprehensive free legal and counseling support, legal aid, including in national and international courts, on matters of the Charter of internally displaced persons, provision of social guarantees and benefits, employment, conveyance of property and documents, compensation for damaged or lost as a result of military operations of the property, and the like.
