The moderator of the meeting was the journalist of the edition “Volyn 24” Lyudmila Yavorskaya. The participants of the meeting tried to find out the causes of the unpleasant peculiar smell, which is particularly noticeable on hot summer days and to discuss ways to resolve the problem. Said that unpleasant odors caused not only draining specialized automotive equipment (cesspool tank trucks) in the urban sewage network sewage from plants for the slaughtering of cattle and pigs, meat processing plants, which are in the city, but also unauthorized overflow in urban sewer network sewage that bring specialized vehicles from the surrounding villages. Worsened the situation and adverse dry weather and reducing water use by residents. Also in need of reconstruction of treatment facilities of the city, which was put into operation in the 70-ies. Yuri Mollica in closing remarks, noted that the city government in the past two months actively studied this problem. There were analyzed factors that could cause unpleasant odors, the maps of wind directions and the like. Studied the legal possibility of collecting fines from drivers and companies who carry out unauthorized sewer plum. However, the city authorities are ready for constructive cooperation with entrepreneurs and exploring opportunities to create conditions for civilized standards for discharge of sewage. It is only by working together can we solve the issue. But the positive is the fact that if before the rapid response team “15-80” received nine calls daily regarding unpleasant odors, from 19 September to 2 October there were only 20 complaints.
