The Prosecutor's office of Rivne region directs the work of law enforcement and regulatory authorities to strengthen the fight against illegal felling of the forest
In the prosecution of Rivne region 06.10.2016 a meeting of the interagency working group, which discussed the issues of combating illegal transactions in forest in the region. In the group, which met under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prosecutor of the region Miroslav Patskan, was attended by the representatives of law enforcement agencies and bodies of the state control of the region. With the purpose of intensification of the activities on combating crimes in the sphere of protection of forest resources, the identification and disclosure of such criminal offences was formed in August, 2016 joint interdepartmental working group, composed of prosecutors, police, SBU, customs authorities, specialists of regional management of forest and hunting economy, State ecological inspection in Rivne region. Such organizational measures have produced a certain result. Since the month of August, local prosecutors and police in the Rivne region began more than 50 criminal proceedings on the facts of committing illegal activities with the forest. Now seeing how the public has sounded the alarm through so-called "cleaning" of the forest, or the clandestine activities of the sawmill - said Miroslav Patskan. – To stop the criminal felling of trees and illicit export is possible in a coordinated fashion and through the active position of each body - member interagency working group. According to the Deputy Prosecutor of the region specific results in the fight against forest vandals achieved only through the activity of the individual departments, but the work of some regulatory bodies is fully collapsed, which is expressed only in stating them the facts of violations of forest. To intensify work in this direction the activities of all services reoriented to a real fight against illicit transactions in the forest. Therefore, as noted by Miroslav Patskan, the Prosecutor's office will require all law enforcement and control bodies real results until they are brought to justice all those involved in the criminal scheme from persons engaged in illegal logging and timber exports, officials of the forestry, as well as other officials of the region that contribute to the theft of the forest. Stop the criminal destruction of forests should be global, and not indicative only to provide statistical figures. From all participants of the hearing, the presiding judge demanded decisive action, as well as proposals to an agreed plan that will facilitate the settlement of the situation in the sphere of protection of forest resources. The results of the meeting of the interdepartmental working group identified specific ways of its further work in order to effectively counter the destruction of forests in the region. To overcome the problems related to the theft of national natural treasures - forests, are important for active support and assistance to the public, so the Prosecutor's office of Rivne region urges citizens not to be indifferent, and to report the facts of violations of forest law enforcement.
