The Prosecutor of the region Maxim Kirichuk: "Combating illegal turnover of excisable goods must be strengthened!"
The Prosecutor's office in the Volyn region held a joint meeting of heads of law enforcement agencies, which discussed the issues of combating illegal circulation of excisable goods, including contraband movement across the state border. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Volyn regional state administration Vladimir Gonik. Speaking before the meeting, the Prosecutor of the Volyn region Maxim Kirichuk stressed that the illicit circulation of excisable goods threatens the economic security of the state. These wrongful acts result in entering the market of defective goods, violation of consumer rights, injurious to health’s lives and contribute to the formation of the criminal market of excisable goods. This year the law enforcement field are investigated 42 criminal proceedings for counterfeiting. In the pre-trial investigation were withdrawn from illegal circulation of excisable goods in the amount of about UAH 24 million. Significantly increased the number confiscated in the area illegally produced fuel and lubricants (diesel fuel, petrol, gas) - now it is about 140,000 liters. In General, the court directed 12 criminal proceedings for illegal actions with excise goods, the results of which consideration by courts of convictions. However, law enforcement officers conducted by the work and measures have not provided an active combat illicit trafficking of excisable goods. Law enforcement in most cases is reduced to the identification of a fraction ' of'compulsory facts retailers of counterfeit alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Unsatisfactory in some cases is the condition of pre-trial investigation by the investigators of GU DFS in Volyn region and police agencies of criminal proceedings in the sphere of illegal turnover of excisable goods.
