Sergey Savchuk: Saee is considering the introduction in Ukraine of issue green bonds as a new mechanism of financing "green" projects
the Introduction in Ukraine of the release of green bonds as an instrument for the implementation of projects on renewable energy has become the main theme of the first Ukrainian forum on climate Finance, which opened on April 5 the Chairman of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk. Speaking, Serhiy Savchuk said that Ukraine, like other countries signatories of the Paris agreement have committed themselves to create favourable conditions for investment in projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This, in turn, requires effective mechanisms to attract capital into "green" projects. We are talking about the issue "green" bonds. "We are moving in the right direction, but we need new tools to implement "green" projects and, primarily, financial. Therefore, the issue of "green" bonds is a good example of funding projects of "clean" energy. In this issue of Saee interested to work side by side with the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, representatives of municipalities, potential investors in order to create a legal and organizational way of issue green bonds in Ukraine", – stressed in his speech the Chairman of the Agency. As noted by the participants of the forum, after a lot of research it became clear that "green" financial instruments with proper intended use, risk assessment can solve many problems, in particular: the extension of project financing in the energy sector, strengthening the economic potential of the country's further integration into the global economic space. These processes are resolved through the transition to "green" investments, a tool which is "green" bonds (bonds). Prospects for the development of green bonds presented Manuel Adaman - managing partner of "Climate Bond Initiative", international organization, which is engaged in attracting "green" investments worldwide. Reference: "Green bond" is a debt instrument, the proceeds of whose sales are directed solely at funding "green" projects. The main criterion for such projects is environmental direction.
