Minister Volodymyr Omelian inspected the road area and visited Zhytomyr airport

Visiting together with the Chairman of regional state administration Igor Gundicha and mayor Sergei Suhomlin Zhytomyr airport, Volodymyr Omelian noted that Zhitomir is a good example of how local authorities can develop a regional airport. — "I am very pleased that Zhytomyr has retained its airport, unlike many other cities of Ukraine, which has divided the airport and built strange houses. We have saved the runway, we have a wonderful new terminal, work on which has been completed, we have a good company that is already based at the airport – Yanair," – said the Minister. After inspection of the roads of Zhytomyr Volodymyr Omelian said: "the number one Problem is, of course, roads. We understand this, and the Government deliberately increases funding every year. If last year was allocated about 12 billion UAH, this year we should get a minimum of 15 billion UAH, at best 30-35 billion that needs to the last penny to go to the restoration of Ukrainian roads." In 2017 from the state budget for the current medium repair of roads and construction of roads of state importance Zhytomyr region has more than 85 million UAH on the maintenance of roads – 148 million UAH. According to the Minister, will work in 2018 Road Fund. 120 thousand km of roads are transferred to local levels with appropriate funding from the road Fund. 35% will go directly to the upkeep of these roads. "This is a big amount is a big responsibility, therefore, the city, the regional government needs to be serious. Much preparatory work begins and I hope Zhytomyr will be the first pilot project," stressed Vladimir Omelian.
