In the Vinnytsia region, April 11 – international day of liberation of Nazi camps

Annually, April 11, with the aim of honoring the citizens of Ukraine, who during the Second world war 1939-1945 suffered from Nazi persecution and went through imprisonment in concentration camps in Ukraine is the international day of liberation of Nazi camps. We will remind that the international day of liberation of Nazi camps is a memorable date which is celebrated in Ukraine on April 11 in connection with the event that happened on this day in 1945, when the prisoners of concentration camp Buchenwald began organized armed rebellion and captured the camp. The existence of concentration camps is an example of horrible crimes against humanity that are committed by the Hitlerites in the territories of the enslaved Nations. Among them – mass executions in the occupied territories, the forced removal to the Reich, and the systematic murder of adults and children in numerous "factories of death" through which it had to pass thousands of Ukrainians, many of whom were victims of torture and backbreaking hard labor. As noted by the Chairman of the regional state administration Valery Cow: "thousands of Ukrainians marched through the horrors of starvation, torture and extermination during the Second world war 1939-1945 through imprisonment in concentration camps. But, they have not lost hope and fortitude in the struggle for a better future and have retained their humanity, which makes man – man. Without a doubt, the generation that survived the terrible events of the Nazi persecution and imprisonment in concentration camps, is the guardian of justice in the context of building a new European Ukraine." This was reported in the Vinnytsia regional state administration
