In the Vinnytsia region the expert Council on preventing and combating discrimination on grounds of sex considered a complaint about outrageous advertising image (photo)
Vinnytsia region 6 April 2017, the regular meeting of the Expert Council on the prevention and combating of gender discrimination, which operates under the Department of social and youth policy of the regional state administration. At the meeting of the Expert Council, participants agreed on its new composition, which included specialists and experts on gender issues: the deputies of the Vinnytsia regional Council (the agreement), officials of local Executive bodies, representatives of NGOs, social activists, lawyers. In addition, discussed some of the issues concerning the Situation of the Expert Council, according to which in the future will operate an Advisory body. One of the priority tasks of the Expert Council is to develop methods of preventing and counteracting violation of equal treatment of women and men on the basis of peer review activities of citizens. At this meeting, the members of the Expert Council considered the appeal of the citizen, perturbed with outdoor advertising of the residential complex "embankment block" placed on a Billboard in the city of Vinnitsa, which depicts a naked female body part, in particular a woman's bust, with the inscription "you can rely On us". During consideration of complaints of participants of the meeting expressed their clear and constructive position. All members of the Expert Council unanimously decided that this is discriminatory on the basis of sex violates this ethical, humanistic and moral standards, ignores rules of propriety. "Representation of the female body, as part of the advertised product,- noted in his speech, Natalia Kozlova, the Chairman of the public organization "Progressive women", in no way helps to understand the quality of the product and shows disdain to the woman. Thus, the woman perceived as a commodity, discriminare her gender". The Advisory Council agreed on the algorithm of further actions for their elimination in the handling of discrimination based on gender violations and their causes.
