Year of the UPA in the region: On historical memory to educate the young generation
Current 2017 in Ternopil region declared the Year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Therefore, on the occasion of the celebration in the 75-anniversary of the founding of the OUN-UPA planned a range of activities aimed at perpetuating the memory of the fallen freedom fighters of Ukraine, support and rehabilitation of veterans of the UPA. That is why 2017 will be fruitful in interesting and meaningful activities that are designed to more deeply understand the historical past of Ukraine, to rethink the events of the present and to encourage the Patriotic spirit of the nation. Thus, up to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the OUN-UPA structural units of the Ternopil regional state administration the following activities are planned: Department of social protection of the population: Left in the region of 450 participants of military actions of OUN-UPA. They will be given a monthly surcharge to pension in the amount of 500 hryvnia at the expense of the regional budget. Now this fee is UAH 200. But soon will be implemented new payment of the fee as of 1 January 2017. Also provides funds for treatment of veterans of the UPA at the rehabilitation center "Goverla" in Morshyn. Directorate of internal policy, religions and nationalities: As the head of this Department Igor Kulchytsky, religious organizations will take part in all events devoted to Year of the UPA. Separately will participate in the worship services, anniversaries. Provides the relevant services at the graves during the prayers for the dead will remember the UPA.
