On the region message from the Chairman of the regional state administration Stepan's Opinion about the 80th anniversary of the Great terror
Dear countrymen! Traditionally, the third Sunday of may we vjno the Day of memory of victims of political repression. However, this year we vjno even 80-th anniversary of the Great terror – the mass political repression of 1937-1938. On this day we remember all those who laid their lives on the altar of independence. So, the Stalinist elite feared and hated by every nation that conquered it. The biggest fear she experienced before the Ukraine. Subject to destroy our spirit. Subject to destroy everyone suspected of a severe crime – love to Ukraine. Therefore, the restoration of the truth about the political repression and dignified celebration of their victims is not just a symbol. This is the first sign that our soul is alive, that our life is indestructible, that our people defeated evil and death. Memory of victims of political repression for our people is fundamental, because from the bloody hands of the Great terror killed the best of the best: freedom fighters, leaders, Prometheus, bringing light and raised the people to fight. We should mercilessly condemn totalitarian and authoritarian regimes that were on Ukrainian soil during the years of Soviet power and led to the tragic events in Ukraine. Memory of victims of political repression is the way of the revival of national memory, assertions of intolerance to any manifestations of violence against humanity. This day is both tragic cautionary lesson from our history. A lesson that teaches a nation to be strong and United in the quest to build a highly democratic state. It is not only history and memory, prevention of crimes against humanity in the future. Urged to remember this day all who have been a victim of a totalitarian regime. And remember: the best monument to all of them will be the development and creation of a unified, strong, powerful Ukrainian state.
