Stepan Barna: Archive-unfinished want to finish faster
In the Ternopil region on the order of completion of yet another iconic unfinished – buildings of the State archive of that array Druzhba in Ternopil. The construction of this facility was begun in 1991, but due to lack of funds to complete it was impossible. In 2015 failed to renew funding and now need about 24 to 26 million UAH, to pass the construction site in operation. So, according to the Chairman of the Ternopil regional state administration Stepan Barns in the area had three major protracted: state archive, regional library and perinatal center "Mother and child", and the task that confronts a region in the medium term is to pass every one of them. "Last year we finished reconstruction of the perinatal center "Mother and child" - in terms of maternity housing. This year, set a goal to implement the project of completion of the State archives of Ternopil region, hopefully things will be OK and we will be able to achieve this. This is important because the State archive is located in the premises of the Dominican Cathedral in the center of the city. And accordingly storage conditions there are not adequate. Our task is to ensure that all documents to unify and gather in one place to further their conservation," said Stepan Barna. The head of the region emphasized that it is important to also provide the historical justice - to return the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church the monastery. "We have support from the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, and also received instruction from the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on the renewal of funding for the construction of the archive. With the same aim carried out a recalculation of the estimates, to optimize the cost and came to the amount of nearly UAH 26 mln. Of these, 5 million hryvnia – is the building part, almost 21 million UAH. – technical support of the object itself. However, the completion of construction is extremely important, because the archive will be a center of science and education centre, as well as our next opportunity to resolve the issue with the unfinished in Ternopil region", – said Stepan Barna. Meanwhile, as noted by the head of Department of capital construction of Ternopil regional state administration Victor Kusaka, the building of the future of the archive is almost done the entire network engineering, also thermal insulation of the facade, there is the boiler room, the ventilation system. Additionally, it remains to make the grid and finish first or second floors. And from the third to the ninth floor all work is performed almost 99%. "The completion of this object, which, incidentally, is one and a half million items, will decide not only our archive, but the archival and district departments, as well as archival subdivisions of state authorities, local governments and all agencies and organizations that are our vodotoranj, – said the Director of the State archive of Ternopil region Fedor Polyanskiy. – So if we can all realize, this is a great victory for all archivists, since the time of independence has not entered any companies that would be used for storing documents of this type. To date, our collection contains more than 700 thousand units of storage, but to this list one must add the documents from the vaults of city and regional archives, and it is about 200-300 thousand units. As well as the documents which are stored the deadlines in the archival divisions of the public authorities, local governments, and agencies and organizations that are included in our list of the Fund formers. That is why the construction of facilities for the regional State archives is a historical moment, and the ability to save documents to the proper level."
