In Zhytomyr told how to improve the provision of public services.
The decentralization reform in the context of the provision of public services to the residents of the region, active cooperation between the cities and communities discussed by the participants of the seminar "Support to decentralization in Ukraine: Strengthening inter-municipal cooperation for better public services." The seminar takes place July 18 at 17.00 in the hotel "Reikartz" in the framework of the OECD project. — Project Manager of the OECD Maria Varga Melon, opening the workshop, stressed that "this event will provide attendees the opportunity to hear how their colleagues are using the existing mechanisms of cooperation to cope with challenges in the provision of public services in the field of transportation/infrastructure, education and waste management". The seminar is also an opportunity to learn from the experiences of OECD member countries in improving the level of provision of public services through inter-municipal cooperation. The seminar consists of four sessions: * Inter-municipal cooperation in the context of decentralization in Ukraine: Foundations and challenges. * Inter-municipal cooperation as a tool for strengthening the development of infrastructure and effective delivery of public services in the field of public transport. * Providing education at the local level: best practices and a space for further cooperation. * The strengthening of practices of waste management at the local level through the mechanism of inter-municipal cooperation. Participation in the opening seminar was attended by the Deputy of the Zhytomyr city mayor Matthew Fucking. Seminar in Zhytomyr – the fourth of the series of activities implemented under this project. The OECD project will work in Ukraine to 2018 and aims to support the implementation of public administration reforms in Ukraine in the sphere of decentralization and to strengthen the institutions of public administration at the national and regional levels across the country. In close cooperation with the Government of Ukraine, this project is implemented by the OECD Committee for the policy in the sphere of regional development together with the Programme of the OECD "Competitiveness of Eurasia". The project is financed by the European Union and public administration bodies of the Czech Republic, Flanders (Belgium) and Poland. We will remind that on July 19, in the Zhytomyr will be a Panel discussion for business in Zhytomyr from the EU delegation "to go to markets in the EU: opportunities, paths, tools, success stories of local business."
