In Zhitomir began training to ensure access for persons with disabilities to polling stations
In Zhytomyr launched a two-day seminar training "Monitoring and advocacy for unhindered access to polling stations for people with disabilities". Began training on April 5 with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Zhytomyr oblast state administration Yaroslav Laguta and regional representative of the NGO "national Assembly of invalids of Ukraine" Neelie Kovalyuk. — Welcoming the participants, Yaroslav Laguta said: "We understand that despite the positive developments, we still have a lot of work. And, first and foremost, to help coordinate our actions is the public. Changes must occur not only in everyday life, but in the mass perception that a number of us are people with disabilities who also are fully entitled to join the electoral process." Participation in the training take about 40 people from Zhytomyr and Poltava regions. According to the organizers of the event, Zhitomir region is one of the few where you can see not just the support of the government, and its interaction with the public in matters of accessibility for people with disabilities. In the two-day training seminar: * presentation of international experience in the provision and implementation of the electoral rights of persons with disabilities; * consideration of the implementation of political rights of citizens with disabilities; * questions of methodology audits of accessibility of public institutions and others.
