Zhytomyr: be careful with heaters!

To prevent the occurrence of fires and other emergency events by the State service of Ukraine for emergency situations addresses to citizens with the request to follow the rules of fire safety during the use of various heating devices. During operation of stoves, you NEED to: 1) before the beginning and during the entire heating season you should clean the chimneys and furnaces of soot at least once in three months; 2) the distance from the heater to furniture, cabinets and other equipment shall be not less than 0,7 m, and from furnace openings not less than 1.25 m; 3) near each furnace before the furnace opening to combustible floor must be nailed sheet metal not less than 0,5x0,7 m; 4) all chimneys and walls in the attic, through which paved the flue channels should be plastered and whitewashed; 5) furnace and other heating appliances must have a fire cutting (otstupki) from combustible structures in accordance with building code requirements; 6) the ash and slag removed from the furnace, it is necessary to fill with water and stand in designated places. When using furnaces, it is PROHIBITED: * to ignite their flammable and combustible liquids; * use for heating is faulty and is not repaired the heating furnace; * drying and folding clothes for stoves, firewood, other combustible objects and materials; * store in the premises fuel supply, which exceeds the daily requirement; * to place the fuel and other combustible substances and materials directly in front of the flue opening; * kindling wood furnaces, the length of which exceeds the size of the furnace; * to implement the the furnace furnace with opened furnace door; * make and throw hot coals less than 15 m from buildings; * maintain outstanding the coals and ashes in a metal container, mounted on a wooden floor or a combustible stand; * use a ventilation gas passages as ducts; * to make a smoke pipe metal and asbestos pipes; * to lay the ducts (the hogs) heating stoves on combustible bases; * fasten the flue pipe antennas of televisions, radios, and the like; * heat the oven during the in the areas of mass events; * to charge the firing and supervision of children. The main recommendations regarding the safe use of electrical heating devices: 1) it should not be used for space heating uncertified and improvised heating devices; 2) the heater can not be put near curtains or furniture – the distance from the appliance to combustible materials must be not less than 0.25 m; 3) it is dangerous to install heating devices on supports made of inflammable material; 4) it is prohibited to arrange the heating devices directly under the socket, and also on ways of evacuation of people; 5) before turning on heating devices need to make sure that it does not have mechanical damage; 6) it is not necessary to include simultaneously many appliances into an extension cord, because the grid can't handle the overload; 7) restrict access of young children to warmers; 8) it is forbidden to use electric heating devices for drying clothes and other materials; 9) do not skip the wire from the heater under the carpet – this can lead to overheating and chafing, which leads to dangerous consequences; 10) it is necessary to periodically clean the heater from dust and debris, as foreign objects can suddenly flare up; 11) do not leave electric heating devices while out of the house.
