Vinnytsia oblast started teaching sign language to the police in the framework of the project of the NGO "sprout" "New police + community = security and development of the Vinnytsia region", aimed at building partnerships the police with the population, in particular, with people with special needs. 20 January as part of the program was held the first lesson for the students of primary training a new patrol police. In the next two months they will be taught to understand people who have problems with hearing and speech. During the year, new officers will learn communication and tolerant behaviour and to other vulnerable groups that require increased attention and additional protection of their rights by the police. In the first session, future police mastered the language and learned the basic rules of communication with this category of people. For us, future police officers, these classes are necessary because it is important to understand the people we want to help. The project coordinators plan to develop a guide for police officers which will help them in their daily work.
