During a pretrial investigation, the culprit has not repented, and his guilt in the incident was not recognized. He tried to convince everyone that driving his car was the victim comrade. However, the guilt of the man was proven. The court found him guilty of violating the rules of traffic safety which has entailed death of the victim (criminal offense under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal code of Ukraine) and has appointed to it punishment in the form of 4 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to operate vehicles for a period of 3 years. The court of appeal of Volyn region rejected the appeal of the accused and, having listened to the arguments of the Prosecutor, agreed with the judgment of the trial court.
