Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Latvian Republic to Ukraine Mr. Juris Poikans, on 29 January visited the Region. During the visit, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary met with the Chairman of regional state administration Stepan Bar. First of all Stepan Barna expressed gratitude for the support of Ukrainian troops, the Republic of Latvia, the wounded and their families, the provision of humanitarian assistance and the like. "Latvia is interesting for us from the point of view of attracting investment, a springboard for the release of economic entities to the markets of the EU, said the head of the edge. – We have favorable geographical position, rich resource base, agricultural and tourist potential, high level of education and qualification of the labour force, the rich scientific and cultural heritage". Stepan Barna emphasized that the region is interested in attracting investments in the agricultural sector, food processing industry, establishing of joint enterprises that would be engaged in processing of agricultural products. "Latvia has an interesting experience of the agricultural cooperative movement, - said Stepan Barna. – Therefore it would be very good to organize training for raising the level clinicohistological manufacturers. In addition, we have successes in gardening. In the region there are enterprises that have gardens, which occupy more than 500 ha". In turn, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Latvian Republic to Ukraine Mr. Juris Poikans took the initiative to open a representative office Consulate of the Republic of Latvia in Ternopil. He also offered to help Ukrainian enterprises to certifying products to enter the EU markets. "I hope this is the beginning of a very successful collaboration," said Mr. Juris Poikans.
