Chernivtsi paid tribute to the memory of soldiers who died 30 years ago in Afghanistan

day 30-th anniversary of the death of the Afghan soldier Peter Tkachuk, citizens gathered to honor his memory. Mayor Alex Kaspruk, Peter's mother Sylvia, family and childhood friends laid flowers and candles to the grave of the hero, in whose honor was named one of the streets of Chernivtsi. Peter Tkachuk was born in March 1966. After studying at the school No. 19 received a summons and was sent to war in Afghanistan. Two months before the end of the service hit a land mine in a mountainous area of Karadag. Died February 8, 1986. Beside him in the cemetery down the street Tkachuk in Chernivtsi buried his childhood friend and comrade Yaroslav. The name of Peter Tkachuk among other 55-and engraved on the monument to soldiers-to Afghans on Independence Avenue. This was reported in the Chernivtsi city Council
