February 15, Ukraine celebrates the 27th anniversary of withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, so this day honored the memory of soldiers-Afghans who were killed during the war. In Ternopil a meeting-Requiem was held near the monument’monument to soldiers-Afghans in the Park "National revival". Priests of different confessions together they held a memorial service, and representatives of the city authorities, public organizations and not indifferent citizens laid flowers at it. Honored the audience and the newest Heroes of Ukraine - fighters who died in the ATO. “Every year here, great friendly community, we gather to honor those who never returned from the war and to give honor and tribute to all Afghans who are defending our Independence in the area of the ATO, - said the mayor Sergei Nadal. - This year we celebrate the 27th anniversary of the hard, unjust war. In my opinion, that this war was unfair for Ukrainian children who have become hostages of war between the two great empires, but honorably fulfilled its mission. In Afghanistan they are tempered important traits, special sense of justice, of freedom and of honor, that is why the Afghans are active participants in public life, they were among the first to protect the Maidan and composed of volunteer battalions protect Ukraine from Russian aggressors". Also on this day, the city Chairman of Ternopil, Sergei Nadal was handed cash bonuses to the members of the Ternopil city organization of the Ukrainian Union of Afghanistan veterans, participants of combat actions on the territory of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan and the bereaved families of soldiers-Afghans.
