The representatives of the official delegation of the EU visited the Chernigov
16 February Chernihiv city Chairman Vladislav Atroshenko met with the leaders of the program "have Become an urban Demonstration projects of EU in Ukraine and the Eastern partnership States". The theme of the meeting: "Enhancing investment attractiveness of Chernihiv region". As part of the official delegation of the EU to Chernigov arrived:Jan Waanders – program Manager, CoM-DeP, Maxim Vereshchak – expert CoM-DeP, Fedor Fisun – Executive Director of the Chernihiv Regional branch of the Association of cities of Ukraine, adviser on public-private partnership. The event was also attended by Lyudmila Maksimenko – head of economic development city of Yaroslav Kuts – head upravlinnia utilities,Yuri Sukhomlin, Deputy head of Department for strategic city development and tourism – head of strategic planning. The participants of the meeting discussed possible forms of future cooperation, in particular issues of sustainable energy development and attracting investment in the energy sector and energy supply, implementation of complex of energy efficiency programs, overcoming the problems in the utilities sector. Vladislav Atroshenko noted that he as the mayor is interested in radical change in the format of relations between local authorities and local community and business representatives. "This is a complete democratization of local government – e-government, transparent use of public funds, transparency of all activities of local governments and, importantly, publicity, publicity in relations with investors", - said the mayor. V. Atroshenko identified a number of priority tasks to Chernigov, including the conservation, reconstruction of thermal networks, the development of transport infrastructure, implementation of the project "Smart and safe city", technical re-equipment of enterprises, street lighting, insulation of apartment buildings, etc. The delegation noted that EU countries are set to search for reliable partners in Ukraine in different directions. The European Commission is preparing a number of programmes aimed at the implementation of projects identified in the "Covenant of Mayors" and sees the Chernihiv in the field of their interests. The mayor assured that the city government of Chernigov is open for dialogue with foreign partners to establish productive and mutually beneficial cooperation.
