35 streets of Chernigov be renamed
16 February in Chernihiv city Council under the leadership of Deputy mayor Olga Honch regular meeting of the Commission on urban toponymy, the protection and preservation of historical and cultural environment M. Chernigov. In connection with the adoption of the law of Ukraine "About the condemnation of the Communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of propaganda of their symbolism" in Chernihiv continues the process of renaming a number of streets. As noted in the Department of architecture and urban planning of the city Council, a list of names of streets, subject to the law of decommunization and should be renamed to 21 February. Thus, the Commission decided to return the historical names of 2 streets of the city: part of Gorky street (from Preobrazhenskaya street to street Kotlyarevsky) – Hound (without changing postal numbering of houses) and street Telmana street St. Andrew. Another part of the Gorky street was given the name "Museum". For the most part of streets to be renamed, the working group examined the opinion of the public. Specifically, the proposal of the residents of the street Eremenko about assignment of names – street meadow. The street of Soldiers-internationalists at the initiative of the Chernihiv regional Department of Ukrainian Union of veterans of Afghanistan decided to rename in honor of Oleh mikhniuk. Oleg Mikhnyuk – military, social activist, veteran of the war in Afghanistan, was Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Union of veterans of Afghanistan, an activist of the Revolution of Dignity, the participant of war in the East of Ukraine, was killed during the fighting in the Luhansk region, was awarded the order "For courage" of I degree (posthumously), Hero of Ukraine with presentation of the order "Golden Star". In addition, the Commission proposed to assign the following names: the street Voykova street Vyacheslav Chornovil; 2-in the alley Voroshilova - street Volunteers; 3-in the alley Voroshilova - street Volunteers; Primakov's street - street Market; Odintsov's street - street of the Defenders of Ukraine; street Ordzhonikidze - street Zemsky; Ostrovsky's street - street of St. John Maximovitch; Krasnogvardeyskiy pereulok - lane Flight, and a number of others.
