Yesterday, 16 February, members of the working group on the development of a new transport system in Chernihiv reported to the mayor about the main directions of changes in the city traffic. The necessity of introducing new transport schemes public transport in the city is obvious. Because at the time when there is a current movement that radically changed the passenger traffic through the cessation of work of large enterprises of the city. Strategic issue changes in traffic patterns is to avoid duplication of trolley bus routes. In addition, the group tried to explore the rationality and feasibility of certain routes with modern passenger traffic. Therefore, for the comfortable transportation of the city residents by public transport, some routes are proposed to be reduced or, if necessary, to continue. As regards the bus fleet, according to the new terms of contracts with carriers, which will be determined by competition, plans to increase the number of buses of big and average passenger capacity. The priority direction of change of the scheme of movement of public transport, as emphasized by city Chairman Vladislav Atroshenko, is the development of electric transport, because it is clean, modern, spacious, roomy and social form of transport, which is very important for our city. "However, the trolleybus fleet had aged significantly in recent years, and for the normal functioning of the trolleybus operation, you must have at least 115 cars of rolling stock. However, the city has a maximum of 74 cars that can still be operated, the remaining 22 units not worth repairing. Therefore, it is necessary to purchase about 40-41 trolleybuses for the city," said the mayor. Vladislav Atroshenko also noted that after the elaboration by the working group of the new scheme of movement of public transport, must pass the procedure of public hearings.
