Chernihiv: the Second wave of flu and SARS are not deleted

on February 19 in Chernihiv city Council under the leadership of Deputy mayor Olga Honch regular meeting of urban operational headquarters for coordination of actions to prevent the spread of influenza and SARS in the territory of the city of Chernihiv. Members of the operational staff reported on the sanitary-epidemiological situation regarding flu and ORVI, readiness of health care institutions of the city to work in the conditions of epidemic of flu, state-of-conduct restrictive anti-epidemic measures in the city. The chief of epidemiological Department of Chernihiv city Department of the Main Department of state sanitary and epidemiological service of Ukraine in Chernihiv region Svetlana alandarenko has reported that during the 7th week (by 12.02 18.02) 2050 people sick with influenza and SARS, of which 40.2 percent were children under the age of 17 years (826 people). The incidence rate among the population of the city compared with last week fell by 27.8% and is 71 persons per 10 thousand population. This is below the epidemic threshold of 45.5 %. The incidence among children up to 17 years in comparison with previous week decreased by 3.3 %. The Commission noted that the introduction of restrictive measures in the city contributed to a decrease in morbidity among all age groups of the population of the city. As of February 19, in the infectious ward of the city is 90 patients with influenza and SARS, including 69 children (77 %), intensive care – 3 patients with severe disease. According to official reports of the health care facilities in the city since the beginning of the epidemic season registered 10 cases of death from influenza. However, according to official forecasts do not exclude the emergence of a second wave of flu and SARS. Despite this, the state sanitary and epidemiological service recommends the renewal of the following restrictive measures: - prohibit access to work and attending training events persons with symptoms of influenza and SARS; - conduct additional airing and damp cleaning with application of disinfectants, - reinforce personal hygiene, - to continue the restriction of public events, including maskovich regime in health care. However, the state sanitary and epidemiological service would not oppose the abolition of the mask mode at the enterprises of trade, public catering, transport and life. It is also necessary to continue monitoring the incidence of influenza and SARS and the attendance of children schools and kindergartens. Summing up the meeting of the operational headquarters, Deputy mayor Olga Hanc noted that "the restrictive measures are removed partially, but prevention remains a necessary requirement. However, our task is constant monitoring of the situation with incidence of flu and ORVI in the city." The Department of public relations of city Council
