Lutsk hosted a meeting on the implementation of the project “Urban strategies in historic cities,directed society”

In the conference hall of the Palace of culture of the city of Lutsk hosted a meeting on the implementation of the project “Urban strategies in historic cities, directed society” (COMUS), with the participation of the first Deputy mayor Taras Yakovlev, Deputy mayor Andrew Kitties, members of the working group for the development of ideas that will help attract investors to revitalize the Old town. The head of Department of culture of the city Council Tetiana Hnativ said that COMUS is a joint project of the Council of Europe and the European Commission included in the action Plan of the Council of Europe for Ukraine. Partner projects Organization of world heritage cities, and its network in Europe is 141 the city and the Ministry of culture of Ukraine. The project started in early January 2015, when the contest was announced among the Ukrainian cities for the right to be a pilot. On the basis of applications received from cities, the experts determined the winner of the city of Lutsk, which was communicated by letter from the Ministry of culture of Ukraine Lutsk city head. The COMUS project will be implemented in the six Eastern partnership countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, each of which presents one of the pilot city and two accompanying cities that will participate in educational trainings and conferences. From Ukraine, this city is still Zhovkva (Lviv region). The project aims to develop innovative planning models that contribute to the solution of practical problems in historical cities. Such models and solutions for the rehabilitation of cultural heritage and its contemporary use, solving social problems, involving the public in the process of political decision-making, improvement of transport services, tourism development and shopping areas, utilization of wastes, improved housing Fund must comply with the European standards and trends to become attractive to international investors. The project duration is 30 months. Funding for the project in six countries is more than 600 thousand euros, which implies a technical and expert assistance and costs associated with direct implementation of project objectives at the local level. Tetiana Hnativ informed about events that already took place in the framework of the project. In particular, from 5 to 8 may 2015 in the framework of implementation of the preparatory phase of the project in Lutsk hosted a working meeting of the international expert of the project from Germany, national coordinator and national experts (Kiev) to the mayor and experts in the field of architecture, local history. Discussed the plan for the project in Lutsk. Established a working group and local group of stakeholders. 17-18 September saw the official start of the main phase of the project in Georgia with the participation of representatives of the Council of Europe, Ministry of culture and pilot cities. Signed a Memorandum of understanding regarding the conditions of its implementation in each member state. Lutsk was represented by first Deputy mayor Taras Yakovlev. Lutsk was awarded a Certificate as confirmation of city status of associated member of the Organization of world heritage cities. In October 2015, was held a training seminar on strategic planning (Germany) with the participation of project managers. In November last year was the international conference in the city of Zhovkva, where discussed the planning phase of the project and formation of project ideas. In December and January, 2015 was held a working meeting of participants of local stakeholder groups to formulate project ideas. the working group discussed the main project ideas.
