In the Zhytomyr region of SBU stopped illegal exports of timber
the Staff of Management of SB of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region, together with the police stopped the activities of three foreign commercial structures, which organized the scheme of illegal export to Asia pine timber. Traders more than one year purchased unaccounted for and illegally logged timber in one of the state forestries of the region. Before customs authorities the suspects were provided false documents about the origin of the timber. For legalization of the export transactions they forged the signature of the heads of relevant government offices and the capital of the Zhytomyr forestry. Intelligence officers had already established seventeen facts export abroad under false documents nearly 500 cubic meters of timber, the cost of which is estimated at one million hryvnia. Size caused to the state damage and the volume of exported forest are being investigated under four criminal proceedings under article 358 of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
