Sergey Nadal: "the Ukrainian people will be strong, but Ukraine will win,as long as we have such a Church, such spiritual mentors!"

70 years ago Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church began to experience one of the most tragic pages in the history of the Church. After 8-10 March 1946 in Lviv took place the so-called «Lviv Cathedral", inspired by the Communist regime that forcibly proclaimed the liquidation of the UGCC. After 43 years, the UGCC was in underground up to a formal resumption of business in 1989. Honoring the memory of all those repressed priests, and remembering this sad page in the history of the UGCC, the Cathedral of the Immaculate conception of the blessed virgin Mary prayed together representatives of the clergy and townspeople. Mayor Serhiy Nadal addressed the audience and thanked the Church and the Holy fathers, who maintained and supported the Ukrainians in the most difficult periods of history. “these days we remember the sad not only to Greek Catholics but for the entire Ukrainian people, the events pseudo-Cathedral in 1946. 70 years ago the Soviet regime tried to destroy the spiritual foundations of the Ukrainian people, - said the head of Ternopil. Thousands of Greek Catholic priests, hundreds of thousands of ordinary lay people have been persecuted, were in HC’imprisonment, lost healthy’I and life. The pains of our Holy fathers, in particular our great countryman, the Patriarch Joseph Blind, was adopted because they believed in the victory of Goodness, in the restoration of an Independent United Ukrainian state. With the revival of worship of the underground Greek Catholic priests in the late 1980s began the actual formation of Ukrainian Independence. Service for fallen Riflemen, UPA, have become so massive that they could not even resist authoritarian Soviet repressive machine. The legalization of UGCC in 1989 heralded the imminent end of the largest anti human godless Empire of the 20th century. The Church — this is an example of sacrifice for the sake of a great mission of serving God and his people, which we always pam’remember". This was reported in the Ternopil city Council
