diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common in Ukraine for non-communicable diseases, which requires not only treatment, but prevention. This was repeatedly stressed by the participants of the round table, held in celebration of world health day. In 2016, world health day – 7 April dedicated to the prevention, detection and treatment of the "sweet assassin" and the slogan: "DEFEAT DIABETES!" Among the participants of the round table Svetlana and Larisa Shwedyk Bevza – main specialists of the Department of health RSA, Philip Prudius - regional specialist responsible for methodical work on specialty "endocrinology", the President of NGO "Vinnytsia regional Association of endocrinologists"; Marina Vlasenko – head of the Department of endocrinology VNMU im. M. I. Pirogov, doctor of medical Sciences,Professor, Vice-President of NGO "Vinnytsia regional Association of endocrinologists"; Tamara Vasilchuk – the chief doctor of the Vinnytsia regional health Center, Larisa Grinchenko – Chairman of the Association of patients with diabetes mellitus. Also the event was attended by representatives of public organizations and mass media. According to Svetlana, Shwedyk, in Vinnytsia region the incidence of diabetes increasing every year. So, in 2008 the number of patients was 38 763÷îë., and in 2015 – 49 927 people. As noted by Philip Prudius, despite this, to date, patients with diabetes 100% of the necessary drugs insulin. But there are currently problems with providing oral hypoglycemic drugs, means of self-monitoring patients with diabetes mellitus; the patient education. -Ukraine, including Vinnytsia region, you need to rely on the experience of Cuba and India in the fight against diabetes. There already are programs of treatment and prevention of this disease. In Vinnitsa region on the basis of endocrinology clinic, there are three "schools of diabetes", where patients powerfully works "army" of doctors, psychologists. Their task is to teach patients to live a full life with this disease and the time to seek help to avoid severe complications. But without the willingness of the patient to be treated – even this "army" is not able to help fully, - said Marina Vasenko. A separate topic was the question of children's morbidity with diabetes mellitus, as well as social and economic aspects of SD. During the meeting was the presentation of "AIDS for family doctors on the management of patients with diabetes mellitus" issued by the Vinnitsa highly specialized endocrinological dispensary together with specialized medical magazine "sugar". The participants urged the public and the media to raise the level of knowledge about diabetes, and actively promote the prevention of this dangerous disease. -The main "instigators" of diabetes, like all other non-communicable diseases is unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, tobacco use and alcohol abuse. An important element in the development of healthy habits and diabetes is the youth and the media. I urge journalists and the public to become allies in the fight against diabetes, said Tamara Vasilchuk. Diabetes mellitus is an extremely important problem not only medical but also economic. It is worth remembering that only joint efforts it is possible to win in this difficult struggle.
