Gschs of Ukraine and German partners strengthen cooperation in the field of radiation and chemical protection of the population

April 11, hosted the meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of gschs of Ukraine Oleg Melicharkova, representatives of the State border service with the President of the Federal office for population protection and assistance in disasters the Federal Republic of Germany Christoph Unger. During the meeting the participants discussed issues of cooperation in the field of radiation, chemical protection, and preparedness divisions of gschs of Ukraine to the operational emergency response, it’associated with radioactive and hazardous chemicals. “the state emergency service of Ukraine pays special attention to issues of radiation and chemical protection, equipment of divisions of rescue Services with modern equipment for work in conditions of radiation and chemical contamination. Significant support in this direction we receive from the Federal Republic of Germany. So I look forward to our further fruitful cooperation in order to strengthen interaction in the sphere of civil protection of the population, strengthening the capacity to react promptly in case of emergencies on chemically and radiation hazardous objects"objects", - said the First Deputy Chairman of gschs of Ukraine Oleg Malceski. In turn, the President of the Federal office for population protection and assistance in disasters the Federal Republic of Germany Christoph Unger noted that in modern conditions the issues of radiation and chemical protection is a priority not only for Ukraine but all over the world. That is why improving the material-technical base of first responders, joint exercises, exchange of experience and synergies will contribute to the strengthening of the level of safety of citizens. Following the meeting, First Deputy Chairman of the DSNs and President of the Federal office for population protection and assistance in disasters the Federal Republic of Germany signed a Joint Declaration of intent regarding cooperation in the joint project "strengthening the capacity of Ukraine in the field of civil protection”. The project involves the extension of technical capabilities of units of radiation, chemical and biological protection of gschs of Ukraine, namely equipping them with modern devices of radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance and technical means for special treatment.
