Zhytomyr region: the public shall be attached to the study of the problems of charcoal production in the area
According to the Department of ecology and natural resources of the Zhytomyr regional state administration, citizens of the Northern districts of the region and public organizations show much concern regarding non-compliance with relevant standards in the production of charcoal. It leads to the big smoke of air and the unauthorized felling of forest plantations. On the initiative of the public Association "the Only thing" on 15 April held a meeting with the head of Department Vadim Voicecomm. During the meeting, representatives of the sa reported that during the operation of the equipment ("barrels") in the atmospheric air is discharged, sodium oxide, sulfur oxide, carbon dioxide, suspended solids, resin, which has a negative impact on people's health. In addition, it was reported in the emissions of furfural and acetic acid, which are not specified by developers of the supporting materials on the emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air. These substances are harmful and belong to 3rd class of hazard. In addition, the installation of facilities for the production of charcoal is produced without the involvement of the certified employees. Even more damage to the environment is caused by this production, if used for this process the forest from the territories contaminated with radionuclides due to the Chernobyl accident. Activists also reported the use for the production of charcoal of old buildings, which are placed in the second zone of unconditional (obligatory resettlement).
