Flower-laying observed in Vinnytsia events of Ukrainian-Polish relations almost a century ago (+photo)
With the participation of the Consul General of Poland in Vinnytsia Tomas Olejnik and Vice President-Director of the Department of education and science of the regional state administration Igor Ivasyuk, a solemn laying flowers to the memorial boards in Vinnytsia, which indicate long-standing friendly relations between Ukraine and Poland. In a flower-laying ceremony was attended by Polish diplomats, scientists and historians, and the community. Ukrainian-Polish delegation began the celebration with the laying of flowers and lamps to the plaque on the building of the Vinnytsia railway station after meeting the head of the Government and the Chief Ataman of the army of the Ukrainian people's Republic Symon Petliura and Marshal of Poland j?zef pi?sudski, which was held may 16-17, 1920 in the city of Vinnytsia. The celebration continued at Cathedral street, where Polish diplomats laid garlands and lamps to the bronze plaque to head the rebirth of the Polish state j?zef pi?sudski installed on the house in which at the beginning of the last century housed the city Duma. The inscription on the monument begins with the words that without an independent Ukraine there is no independent Poland. It is further said, "In the hall of this house 17 may 1920, made a speech the head of the Revived Polish state Jozef Pilsudski, who arrived at the invitation of the government of the Ukrainian national Republic. Deputy Chairman-Director of the Department of education and science of regional state administration Igor Ivasyuk also put yellow and blue bouquet to the relief of Dmitry Markovich - famous Ukrainian politician and public figure, writer, founder of "Enlightenment" in Vinnitsa. "Memorials in Vinnytsia is a symbol of Polish-Ukrainian friendship,- said Igor Ivasyuk, we celebrated the events of almost a century ago that took place in Vinnytsia. Together with the Consul General of Poland in Vinnytsia we have implemented this action respect for our common historical past. Time has proved our good-neighbourly relations: the Ukrainian and Polish peoples always close and give each other support and help in difficult times."
