Vinnytsia region in the i quarter of 2016 takes 1st place by volume of production of meat and milk
According to the Main Department of statistics in Vinnytsia region by all categories of farms of Vinnytsia region for January–March 2016 is realized cattle and poultry for slaughter in live weight of 117 thousand tons more than in the previous year by 6 %, milk – 174 thousand tons (2%) and eggs 199 million units (more 12%). So, thanks to the painstaking and systematic work of farmers, Vinnytsia oblast by the volume of livestock production in all categories of farms in January - March of the current year takes 1st place in terms of meat and milk production and 4-th place by volume of production of eggs. As of April 1, 2016 in all categories of farms of the region were cattle 324 thousand heads, including cows – 160 thousand heads, pigs – 367 thousand heads, sheep and goats – 44 thousand heads, poultry – almost 28 million head. In comparison with the previous year increased the number of poultry by 7%, cattle – by 3%, the number of cows and pigs decreased by 1%, sheep and goats by 10%.
