Priority for our region remains the preservation of forest resources and the legality of their use, especially about’objects of natural reserve Fund. Therefore, the prosecution bodies of the region pay special attention to this issue and, within their powers, shall take all measures to prevent illegal forest felling, and in the case of their Commission – the inevitability of punishment for perpetrators and compensation for damage caused to the state. The Prosecutor of the region Voloder Janko emphasises that this problem has grown particularly acute, because, as you know, the illegal cutting of forests leads to the irreversible processes - the destruction of forests,—'yazku than irreparable damage is done to the environment and huge economic losses – the state. Last year, accounted for 2.5 times more than in 2014, crimes against the environment – 74 criminal offences. Among the offences in this category almost all – 83.8 per cent, or 62 constitute the crime of illegal felling in the forest (most V. Bereznyj – 13, Rakhiv – 12 and Tyachiv – 10 districts). From the beginning of 2016 to the territorial bodies of 105 police initiated criminal proceedings on the facts of illegal forest felling. Now in the remainder of the police area is 168 criminal proceedings under article 246 of the criminal code of Ukraine and 4 – pre-trial investigation is stopped in connection’connection with the search for the suspects, two indictments have been sent to court. At the meeting held the other day the Prosecutor of the region with "security forces" of the edges was noted that, despite law enforcement measures, illegal felling of trees in the region does not stop, what can learn from daily police reports, social and Internet networks, and these often illegal logging is accompanied by the improper performance of their duties, and sometimes even the promotion of such felling, on the part of "forest guards" of foresters and employees of the state forestries, which does not contribute to the normalization of the status of legality in the region. Therefore, before the edge of the militiamen stood pressing issue – agree on additional urgent measures to prevent violations in the forest sector. Now, we must continue in upward motion to counteract the illegal felling in the Carpathian forests.
