Ukrainian-German-Swiss project begins work on the integrated development plan of Chernivtsi

New Ukrainian-German-Swiss project "Integrated development of cities in Ukraine" presented during the briefing Chernivtsi mayor Alex Kaspruk, head of the project "Integrated development of cities in Ukraine" Matthias Brandt and expert mark Swade. This project is run by a German government company "Deutsche Gesellschaft f?r Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH", funded by the Governments of Germany and Switzerland. Alex Kaspruk announced that the project will be to apply the tools that have already proven their efficiency in international practice of planning for urban development. April 26 will be held the first meeting of the interdisciplinary working group in the framework of the project. Group members will be representatives of the major departments of the city Council and public organizations. "Together with colleagues from Switzerland and Germany, we want to first of all conduct a comprehensive analysis of the available data and on their basis to develop a new integrated plan of development of the city. This process will involve active residents, public institutions, this is the result of our joint work to meet the demands of our society and time," – the mayor emphasized. Mathias Brandt explained that the project of an integrated development plan will contribute to the implementation by Ukraine of the Leipzig Charter on sustainable European cities will be pledged to the city of the European Union. In addition to organizing training programs to improve the skills of employees of the city Council during the project implementation will create necessary conditions to promote certain investment projects in the field of urban mobility. Based on the concept of an integrated development team of Ukrainian, German and Swiss experts will develop a plan for the development of the transport system of the city. In addition, the project will organize activities to exchange experience between project participants and between them and their foreign partners. The starting point for the project was the Integrated concept of development the centre of Chernivtsi, developed in 2015 with the support of the German Government. The project "Integrated development of cities in Ukraine" will last until the end of 2018. In addition to Chernivtsi, it involves Poltava, Zhitomir and Vinnitsa. The German government is funding the project in the amount of 4 million euros, the Swiss Government provides almost 2 million euros.
