"The first battalion of Chernihiv region" – the 13th BTRO marked the second anniversary of
23 April in Chernihiv celebrated the second anniversary of the 13th infantry battalion, which was formed in our city. Exactly two years ago in April 2014 in Chernihiv oblast was created on 13-th territorial defense battalion, which was subsequently reorganized into the 13-th separate mechanized infantry battalion. This battalion is one of the first in our area who received a combat mission to participate in anti-terrorist operations. 9th may 2014 the battalion in Lugansk region. At the initial stage of the ATO battalions of territorial defense together with volunteer units were among the main combat components of the Armed forces of Ukraine, who stopped the aggression and freed from the invaders a considerable part of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The battalion was formed almost entirely from among the reservists called up on mobilization, the majority of citizens went into the army voluntarily. The war in Eastern Ukraine has claimed the lives of 143 of our countrymen, among them 33 soldiers of the 13th infantry battalion.
