To honor the memory of liquidators of the Chernobyl accident in the Chernobyl memorial complex “a Firefighter who saved the world” came the liquidators of the accident – representatives of different professions: firefighters, doctors, military, police, drivers, builders and heads of region and city, students of schools, members of the public, veterans and personnel of operational and rescue units. Even visited by a large delegation from Japan – 21 the representative of that quarter of a century helping the Zhytomyr region in overcoming consequences of the Chernobyl accident. As noted at the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Japanese charity Association " Chernobyl-Chubu” Mr. Masaharu Kawata, the Chernobyl accident was the occasion for understanding. Having survived the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and in the present age and the accident at the nuclear plant Fukushima-1, which affected more than 100 thousand people, the Japanese people are now experiencing the terrible grief that at the time felt and Ukrainians. «And at the same time, we want to sincerely thank that within 5 years we get your words of support and gratitude. And we will continue to help You, as before, – appealed to the liquidators, the representative of Japan”. Every year the rally takes the word of a retired Colonel Boris Chumak, Director of the charity Fund "Chernobyl Firefighters", which in ' 86, managing fire protection region, has formed and sent a detachment to Chernobyl. According to him, from the cohort of 289-five firefighters of the region 107 has already passed away. The rest feels the terrible consequences of the actions of the atom – it is an incurable illness that is difficult to fight. And Japanese friends – the only one who is persistent during the whole time after the accident invaluable aid to Chernobyl victims and those who serve on the radiation-contaminated area, treatment and recovery. On this day, the Chairman of regional state administration Sergey Mashkovsky also reminded the audience and the exploits of the heroes of Chernobyl who postavili Zhytomyr land.
