The event was attended by representatives of the structural subdivisions of the regional state administration, district administrations, responsible for implementation of state policy in the sphere of prevention of domestic violence, General Directorate of National police in Vinnytsia region, Vinnytsia regional center of social services for family, children and youth, agencies providing assistance to women and children affected by domestic violence, local governments, and public organizations. During the event Mar Chumalo, Deputy Chairman of the public organization "the Center "Women's perspectives" (Lviv), familiarized the participants with the key provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of violence against women and domestic violence, and combating these phenomena, and noted that the Istanbul Convention is a step towards rebalancing the rights of women in situations of violence. Given the fact that in Ukraine, human rights are the Supreme value, and their observance is the key to its European integration, the participants of the "round table" emphasized the importance of ratification and implementation by Ukraine of the Convention. Special attention of participants was attracted by the provisions of article 23 of the Istanbul Convention "Asylum", according to which the parties shall take the necessary legislative or other measures to ensure the establishment of appropriate, easily accessible shelters in sufficient numbers to provide safe accommodation of victims, especially women and their children, and provide them with effective assistance. According to commentaries to the Convention are encouraged to ensure that in each region the availability of safe accommodation in special shelters for women, one seat per family per 10,000 population. The establishment of shelters is important for the region and requires careful study and consideration. "It's really a actual problem . I have a long time is the idea of creating a single center for women victims of violence where they can contact and where to get professional help. Unfortunately, such centers are almost there. Summing up, the roundtable participants determined that further implementation of the fundamental norms and principles of the Istanbul Convention will be the main task in protecting the rights of victims of domestic violence, and the eradication of such a shameful phenomenon as domestic violence. Information and Advisory assistance is provided by specialists of public organization "Progressive women". During the first half of 2016 for advice on the "hot line" asked 501 people, including 400 women and 101 men, including 137 persons from among victims of domestic violence and their families and 36 people from their surroundings (neighbors, co-workers, etc.).
