Marks 73 years since the tragic confrontation in Volyn. Volyn events of 1943-1944 often used as a method of manipulation in the joint past. Ukraine's position is clear and unambiguous, especially given the bitter experience of Russian aggression in Eastern Ukraine –any crime against the civilian population is indefensible. Poles and Ukrainians must remember these joint actions, to take into account the accumulated positive experience on the way to understanding and reconciliation. But Ukraine is opposed to the application of the principle of collective responsibility. Every crime must be thoroughly investigated and findings should be made to specialists on the basis of reliable historical facts, not emotions. Ukrainian-Polish dialogue should be as balanced, and the decision – in advance and well thought out. However, the conflict of the 40-ies of XX century should be withdrawn from politics and handed over to the scientists. The drama of the Ukrainian-Polish conflict of the 40-ies of XX century is a complex question of history, so it should be removed from politics and handed over to the scientists. At the present stage Ukraine and Poland should make efforts to research the historical past to the consciousness of young Ukrainians and poles were not burdened by memories of the tragic periods in their common history.
