Participation in the monitoring took Dmitry Korotchuk, Chairman Tomashpolsky district Council, Natalia Gyzhko, project coordinator, Yuri Veklenko, head of the Department of field forage crops of hayfields and pastures of the Institute of forages and agriculture of Podillya of NAAS of Ukraine, with the participation of village heads investigated the condition of public rangelands and Victor August, Director of the farm, which carries out work on improvement of the public pastures. The purpose of the monitoring was analysis of the state of public pasture, quality of herbage, the importance of the first or second mowing, chemical treatment and further formation of highly productive pastures. Since the last monitoring which was held in may this year, formed a sufficient herbage on all 100 hectares of public rangelands. Rainy weather contributed to the growth and strengthening of grass. In the village Pilipi-Borsk had already been used for mowing, but the grass has grown again and have already scheduled the second mowing. Then the villagers will be able to start grazing. The first mowing was also carried out on parts of the pastures in the villages of Antonivka and Rognetta. The rainy weather has contributed not only to the growth of grass and weeds. With the aim of preserving the quality of the herbage in the village of Antonovka and Rognetta need to spend mowing and weed removal from the remaining area of the pasture, then grass will have more power and will be able to ukias. We expect that within a week after cutting, and these pastures will need to be implemented grazing" - said Yuriy Veklenko, head of the Department of field forage crops of hayfields and pastures of the Institute of forages and agriculture of Podillya NAAS of Ukraine. "Last year was very dry and we were not able to sow the grass. This year on the contrary rainy and on former the turf, in addition to our herbs abundantly sprouted and the weeds were previously adverse conditions. We were worried that they will win our stairs. But in Pylypy –Borsky we saw the perfect pastures that are willing to give a second cut rich in vitamins. In the village of pen'kivka pastures similar to drugs the pharmacy or gathering a bouquet of wild flowers. Very clearly varies in quality and the rest of the pastures on which no work. Back in July, improved and energized pastures are green and rich, and this suggests that the effective use of the public pastures increases their quality and period of use, cow performance and income of their owners." - said Natalia Gyzhko. According to the monitoring results it was decided to hold the second mowing in the village Pilipi –Borsec, the first mowing in the villages of Antonivka and Rognetta and start grazing. In communities where will be implemented the first mowing should be given the opportunity to grow the grass and last week and in these areas to begin grazing. "Grazing is useful because it gives the opportunity to upgrade the grass, but pastures are young and need to implement lean pasture, to control the number of cows, change the area of grazing and paste in rainy weather."- said, referring to village heads Yuriy Veklenko, head of the Department of field forage crops of hayfields and pastures of the Institute of forages and agriculture of Podillya of NAAS of Ukraine For more information about the project, please contact: Ms. Natalia Gyzhko, head of the EU project "enhancing the capacity of the cooperative to protect the legal and economic interests of private farms, as well as expanding the range of dairy products of the social sphere of Tomashpil district.", e-mail: tommilkua@gmail.com tel.: +38 (069) 7313569 General information: The EU project "enhancing the capacity of the cooperative to protect the legal and economic interests of private farms, as well as expanding the range of dairy products of the social sphere of Tomashpil district began its activity in September 12, 2014.
