Volhynia: the Prosecutor of the region requires the police strengthen the response to violations of traffic safety
In area Prosecutor's office analysed the information about committed in the Volyn region criminal offences against traffic safety and transport operation. The analysis showed that in the first half of 2016 in the region the number of accidents increased by 64% - from 125 to 205. 31 in the case of death of the victims. Only on the territory of the city of Lutsk during this period, the reported 55 traffic accidents, more than 77 % more than last year (31). Has rapidly increased the number of accidents in Novovolynsk, Volodymyr-Volynskyi, Kovel, Vladimir-Volynski, Ivanichevsky, Kivertsy, Kowalska, Lutsk, Liuboml, Rozhischensky, Starobeshevska and Shatsky areas. Despite the fact that the police, which by law is entrusted with the task of combating crime and preventing offending, shall exercise their powers in these areas is inappropriate, the Prosecutor of the region Maxim Kirichuk has written to the acting’relations of chief of National police the letter with the requirement to strengthen the counteraction to the violations of road traffic safety. A letter demanding maximum focus units on issues of struggle within the purview of criminal offences, floor’connected with the violations of traffic rules, sent to the head of Department of patrol police in the city of Lutsk.
