Zhytomyr region: the region received the BCG vaccine

In the region received the BCG vaccine. This was announced by the head of Department of mobilization work and special issues of the Department of health regional state administration Sergey Berezovsky. "The vaccine is already delivered to the base of spetsnaznachenija in the amount of 27 thousand 240 doses. Now the health Department prepares the relevant order for the distribution of vaccines in cities and districts of the region. The vaccine will be distributed according to the number of children and by the end of this week it will already be on the ground," – said Sergey Berezovsky. Recall that on 5 August the Zhytomyr region received 3,960 doses of vaccines against rabies. Reference BCG vaccination is needed for prevention of tuberculosis in children. It does not protect against infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but it really protects the transition from latent infection to overt disease (approximately 70% of vaccinees), and almost 100% protects children from severe forms of tuberculosis from tuberculous meningitis, tuberculosis of bones and joints and severe forms of pulmonary tuberculosis. The use of BCG vaccine resulted in a significant reduction in the incidence of children with tuberculosis generally, and in particular, for many years, there has been no cases of tuberculous meningitis in vaccinated children. This was reported in the Zhytomyr regional state administration
