Chernivtsi: the VII poetry festival MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ
Grand opening of the VII International poetry festival MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ took place in the marble hall CNU with the participation of the organizing Committee, distinguished guests and festival participants, local authorities, students. “Pleased that the festival is a traditional event in Chernivtsi, always look forward to carefully prepared, – said Chernivtsi mayor Alex Kaspruk. – Important is that MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ for serjoznih topics: war and poetry, the tragedy in Babi Yar and European culture. This means that the greatest values is the human being and the peace sky over the head. And they are as fragile as poetry.” For three days in Chernivtsi perform more than 30 poets from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Israel, Romania, UK and Ukraine, among them Yuri Andrukhovych, Serhiy Zhadan, Katya Petrovskaya, Thomas Wells, Pedro Lenz, Monika rinck, Ronnie Somek, Max Collec, Klaus Merz, Miruna Power, Esther Kinsky, ADI Cesar, Igor Pomerantsev, Alexander Roitburd, Andriy Lyubka, Artem Polezhaka, Irina Pillars. The festival offers visitors the interesting concerts, public discussions and presentations of the most anticipated books: books by Serhiy Zhadan and lyubko. Admission to all festival events is free. Among the Central events of the first day of the MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ – a parade of poets participating in the festival in the musical-drama theatre named after O. Kobylyanska.
