Zhytomyr: the representatives of the region will participate in the multi-pronged project aimed to support the most vulnerable categories of citizens
In terms of political and socio-economic crisis in Ukraine social initiatives to support and protect the rights of the most vulnerable categories of citizens, are extremely important for the country and require joint efforts of the public and all branches of government. So, from January 2015 in our country has been implementing a multi-faceted project "Strengthening the role of civil society in protecting the rights of vulnerable groups of prisoners in Ukraine", whose main purpose is to strengthen the role of Ukrainian civil society in promoting human rights principles of non-discrimination and equality for vulnerable groups of persons in conflict with the law (minors, women, women with children, people with disabilities, people with chronic diseases, patients with HIV/AIDS) and their families. Project activities, funding for which is provided by the European Union, is an international non-governmental organization "penal reform international" in collaboration with national partners and with the overall coordination of activities in Ukraine the Ukrainian centre of legal assistance "Public defender". Under the project, 27 September, 2016 in Uman will be the next cascade project activities for the Cherkasy, Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, whose main purpose identified improving the efficiency of cooperation and coordination of criminal justice and institutions/organizations of a social orientation of the above regions of Ukraine on the issues of observance of rights of vulnerable categories of convicted and dismissed citizens, including those regulated by article 3 of the European Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
