In the Zhytomyr region implemented a joint project with Germany in the field of organic agriculture
In Zhitomir on 12 October on the basis of Zhytomyr national agroecological University held a solemn opening of the project "German-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of organic agriculture." The event was attended by Chairman of regional Council Vladimir Shirma, head of Department of agroindustrial development of regional state administration Ruslan kyryliuk, representatives of the Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine, the project partners from the German side. It is very symbolic that the project is implemented on the basis of agro-ecological, organic production should begin with science and have good specialists in this field. The aim of the project is to help improve expertise of technical and managerial staff in the field of organic farming. This support will enhance the ability of Ukrainian producers on the domestic and international markets. The project involves the close combination of theoretical and practical training characteristic of the German system of secondary education. Training activities will be conducted on a wide range of topics related to organic production (e.g., gardening, hens laying hens, pigs and growing grain crops and sunflower). In addition, some aspects of processing and marketing may also be an important part of the seminars in the framework of the project. Particularly important are the monitoring, certification, audit and accreditation. The workshops will be held throughout Ukraine. However, the project aims to select regions with potentially the most favorable for organic farming conditions. Zhytomyr can find its niche in the development of organic production. After all, we have a number of agricultural enterprises involved in organic matter. Most of them are concentrated in the Novohrad-Volynskyi district. So, in our area, organic rye, wheat, barley, oats, millet, corn, peas. From animal produce – calves, Peking ducks, geese, turkeys, sheep, milk. However, the priority is not only producing organic products but also manufacture finished products – organic breads, oils, cheeses, meat and dairy products.
